The Nashville Predators believe their window to win the Stanley Cup will remain open following a second-round loss to the Winnipeg Jets in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Predators won the Presidents' Trophy with 117 points in the regular season but couldn't solve the Jets. Nashville had high expectations after reaching the Cup Final last season, when they lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in six games.

"We still had a really good season and obviously it still doesn't feel much better, the way the season ended," goaltender Pekka Rinne said. "Kind of a huge disappointment. But still you've got to try to find the positives. We did have a really good season, and a lot of players took more strides in their careers. You're trying to find all the positives you can, but for sure, it's a tough one. I really feel like this is a special team, and we have a lot of potential on this team."

Rinne, a finalist for the Vezina Trophy who was 42-13-4 with a 2.31 goals-against average, .927 save percentage and eight shutouts during the regular season, was inconsistent in the playoffs; he had a 3.07 GAA and a .904 save percentage and was pulled in three of the four home games in the second round, including in the first period of the 5-1, Game 7 loss that ended the Western Conference Second Round.
